Chafik Gasmi is an architect, designer, scenographer and art director. He runs his own
multidisciplinary design studio, Chafik Studio, with offices in Paris and Algiers.
Starting by designing a hotel in the Marais in Paris and editing his own furniture collection, Univers
Intérieur. He joined in 1996 Dominique Mandonnaud, the founder of Sephora, with whom he built
the first global flagship store on the Champs Élysées. This led to his appointment as Artistic Director,
a position he held for seven years. Within the LVMH group, he has worked with prestigious brands
such as Dior, Guerlain, Kenzo, Dom Pérignon, Givenchy, Ebel, Louis Vuitton...
His influence extends beyond the borders of France, as he has structured projects in Algeria, from
the urban plan for the Bay of Algiers to the creation, of the Musée d’Art Moderne d’Alger (MAMA),
for which he gave the name.
In 2007 , he was appointed Artistic Director of Baccarat. He conceived the first Baccarat hotel
concept.
In 2010, he became Artistic Director of Lancôme Global Retail, a role he maintained for more than 10
years. He led the creation of the flagship stores on the Champs-Élysées and in Beijing. He also
designed several fondamental 
products for the brand, like the Absolue Skincare jar or notably the Idôle perfume bottle.
Since 2020, Chafik has equipped Chafik Studio with a fablab for the production of innovative
prototypes.
He has also created department that dedicates to the metaverse and immersive experiences,
broadening the horizons of his studio.
In 2023, with Sephora and Chafik Studio, he created the SephoraUnivers Concept, laying the
foundation for a multipolar metaverse operating system that combines luxury brand experience and
entertainment.
His minimalist, sensual and timeless approach, tinged with dreamlike imagery, is evident in projects
that draw inspiration from 360 experience concept stores to prestigious villas and monumental art
light installations such as those created with Baccarat in London, Beijing and Doha.
